Clár Ceoil - Teaching Programme
Instrumental music classes in Craobh Chualann are graded at four levels – Beginner, Improver, Intermediate and Advanced. In all of our music classes we work from a set collection of popular tunes - this enables students to practice and play their music along with other students on their different instruments.
At Beginner level, tunes are drawn from the Craobh Naithi Book 1 of Irish Traditional Music - students can hear all of the tunes in this book played at a slow learning pace on the accompanying set of 3 CDs. This book and CD set can be purchased at Craobh Chualann on Friday or Sunday nights (Price 10 euro for the Book and 20 euro for the set of 3 CDs).
At more advanced levels - Intermediate and Advanced - the tunes taught in class are sourced in the 2 Foinn Seisiúin music books and accompanying CDs ,also available to purchase from Craobh Chualann or at the Culturlann (Price 10 euro per book and 15 euro per set of 2 accompanying CDs for each book).

From 8.30pm to 9.15pm on Friday nights, anyone may join one of our graded Seisiuin Ceoil/Music sessions in the Cultúrlann where these and very many other tunes are played at a pace suited to each level and directed by a music teacher. The open branch session runs from 8.30pm until late on Fridays at the front fireplace in the Culturlann.
Each
year we prepare Grúpaí Ceoil
at the various age levels (under 12, under 15,
under 18 and Adult) for the Dublin Fleadh Ceoil
and rehearsals are usually in full swing from
January onwards. Anyone attending classes may
join a Grúpa Ceoil once they have
reached the required standard and this provides
a great opportunity to play your music along
with others.
