Younger members have been busy putting their musical skills to good use. Five members from one family performed as “Cúigear” on the ‘Gig’Rig’ at the Fleadh Cheoil in Derry, as did other members – under the banner of “Cairde Chualann”. It is no mean feat to stand up and perform in front of crowds like this. Maith sibh go léir!
Only ten days to go until registration for classes. Tabhair cuireadh do gach duine atá spéis acu teacht.
Na déan dearmad go bhfuil an CCB ar siúl ag 6 in ar 13ú Meán Fomhair
On Saturday, five members of the Club performed a 40 minute set on one of the main stages at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, as “Cúigear”. The stage was in the Waterside, Derry. They were joined on stage to conlude their set by the Burntollet Sons of Ulster – a marching band from the ‘Loyalist’ community. It was the first time that a marching band of this type had participated in any such festival and they were welcomed to the stage with generous words by Seanadóir Labhras Murchú. Maith sibh go léir!
A record number of members participated in the Fleadh Cheoil competition this year, with 10 gold, six silver and two bronze medals won at the Dublin Fleadh.Congratulations to all members of the Club who took part, including those who were crowned provincial champions and went on to participate in the finals in Derry. All reflected great credit on their families and teachers and they impressed everyone with their spirit and ability. Special mention goes to James O’Floinn, who won first place in the Uillean Pipes (Slow Airs) Competition (under 12) and Daoirí Farrell who won first place for Singing in English (over 18). Cúis mortais dúinn uilig!
